We Travel Light 9

195.00

Framed encaustic painting, 6.25 x 8.5.

A few years ago I was asked to do a cover for NYU's Literary Journal, Washington Square. I used a photo reference from a photograph taken by Imke Lass in Brooklyn in the 90s. From this I was inspired to create a series called We Travel Light.

Imke Lass is an editorial photographer in Hamburg, Germany specializing in documentary, travel and portrait photography.

Christine Sajecki

Encaustic is painting with molten beeswax, mixed with damar resin and pigments. The process translates literally as “to burn or melt.”  Encaustic is Ms. Sajecki’s favored medium.  “Encaustic is my home. It's almost like a living thing- its warmth, its body, its behaviors- and painting with it engages all the senses in ways that other mediums don't. Encaustic is so tactile, so physical, and so malleable.”
